I loved A.C.E.O.s from the instant I encountered them. I collect them. I probably have art by a few dozen ACEO artists. I buy little miniature brass easels made in India by the dozen to display then. The Indian easels are very funny, they have all this Victorian ornateness to them and they probably cost a quarter to make.
One of my other favorite artists, Dewbar (a.k.a. Barb from Ohio lol) was creating miraculous A.C.E.O.s and I'm so proud to own enough of her work that I could publish them as a book.
Barb where did you go? Dewbar Art come back! I miss you and your work! I still love to stare at my magic sculpture you created (celestial mount) when it catches the sun and coruscates! I want to ride it!
If you want to have fun go to EBAY and type in ACEO or A.C.E.O. as a search term. Many artists are making a living by selling these things. You can make some too. It's fun. Just adhere to the sizing restrictions and the content can be anything.
Most of the stuff on EBAY will be schlock...it's a great big shlockfest (I actually love some of the shlock and collect that too!) but there are some truly gifted artists working in the form. It's not considered "respectable" but I'm sure a few edgy galleries have done A.C.E.O. shows, or will in the near future.
This is a beautiful miniature painting by Rachel though, and obviously not schlocky in the least.
Rachel writes:
Oddballs is an original painting done with acrylics and pastels on canvas. It has an original poem written around the forms:
You do have all the answers my sweetie. You're lovely, divine. Be the oddball and you'll be yourself. You'll spread yourself, blanket your world, comfort us all.
The canvas is studio grade with no staples on the sides (sides are painted green). It is titled, dated and signed on the back, initlaled on the front. The sides are almost an inch deep. The painting measures 16 x 20. The front has been sprayed with fixatif to prevent the pastels from smudging. :)
***Every purchase includes a free Artist Trading Card (ACEO/ATC). Each card is an original 2.5" x 3.5" mini painting :) Signed, titled and dated. You can trade with your friends or keep as a momento.
