Barb, Where Did You Go!?! (Imagine Peanuts Dashes of Frustration Perspiration Flying Off My Face...)

This is one of my favorite pieces of art created recently by one of my favorite artists. She is an outsider artist who lives in Ohio and sells her works online. I was very happy to acquire this. She often has "fairies" in her creations, but they are usually fairies only by dint of the horribly-grafted butterfly wings sticking out of their backs, often at implausible angles, and the fairies often seem like children suffering from progeria. The uncertainty of what or who is inanimate, and what/who is animate (if either character) leaves a delicious ambiguity. And those insect-eyes...drop-dead sexy! Great job, Barb!

What is Barb's last name? I'd like to look up more of her work.

Angela, I don't even know!

And we used to email back and forth a lot!

It just never came up.

She's an awesome creator...she used to sell under the name Dewbar on EBAY and I found one of her old names there and emailed her but it seemed to be abandoned. And if she's like me, once you stop using a name on EBAY it's just driftwood, so she'll probably not get it.

I have a whole bunch of her A.C.E.O.s...I love those...Rachel (she of Sephyrus blog) also works in A.C.E.O. format...I still prefer larger art but I love having A.C.E.O.s throughout the house...on little brass easels...miniatures art is sexy anyway...

Is there a museum of miniature art somewhere? There should be. I'm always drawn to things like that when I go to a Ripley's Museum.

I know my computer has her email memorized but it's not an obvious one...like it doesn't start with Dewbar or Barb or anything...

She's a very smart auctioneer actually. She has a pet goat, lovely children (she put some of their art on EBAY too...it ran in the family!) and a great eye for the unusual item.

She works hard to make things work...a great lady and I just hope she's still doing the artwork and auctioneering didn't take over.

That reminds me...Lee's daughter did a bunch of amazing art in school and I didn't realize it was in this house until she was leaving on Sunday night. I begged her to bring them back when she comes over on Wednesday so I could do some digital images and post them here! I think it's her career choice...design...an apt choice...she fetishizes IKEA items as much as we do lol....she likes the Goth stuff a lot too...some TWILIGHT book or other is never far lol....

Both Lee's kids love to draw and both amaze me with their notebooks...very different universes but both very detailed!

I'm seriously envious!
