Brooklyn,

Hahahaha! I won't erase it.

I erase my madman spittle posts, but I was quite sane writing that.

I know you're joking about Dramamine but watch out to anyone who reads and thinks it's safe...I find dimenhydrinate gives a buzz approximating that of "marijuhwanna" as Mr. Mackey pronounces it, but tolerance for these drugs can vary greatly from individual to individual and people die. They just keel over and die.

And tolerance builds up fast. But then it vanishes just as quickly.

And as with M. paranoia can occur.

Dimenhydrinate (50 mg) has about half the effect of diphenhydramine (WARNING WARNING! DANGER WILL ROGERS!) and the brand name DRAMAMINE I believe has certain essential components removed so the high is not really achievable. Generic is cheaper. Generic dimenhydrinate is very good at Wally World.

These drugs are not addictive in the least.

I am not outing myself as a junkie. I am just interested in certain altered states infrequently.

There are good posts online about "recreational use of dimenhydrinate" (and diphenhydramine, which I would NOT recommend) and WIKI even links to these. The anticholinergic effects are documented...what is that funny acronym that gives the anticholinergic drug's effects...I forget..it's on my blog somewhere...I like that acronym...it takes time for each pill to "register" so fast pill-poppers without patience will end up in an E.R. like a jackass...

Music can be incredibly enhanced and sensation of music...I never sing so much as when I'm in that state...I can hear the entire score of Four Saints in Three Acts when I'm in that state...unfortunately, I also have a desire to sing it...

Oh, and you will have weird dreams that go on forever. These are often initially nightmares but later can be dreams that are very novelistic and interesting.

But again, people die. So I'm talking more to people who arrive here by Googling diphenhydramine or dimenhydrinate, etc., and not to you, Brooklyn, who made an innocent joke.

xo B.

Everything you say is true. But I have a really low tolerance, so Dramamine, just like other unnamed substances, simply makes me fall asleep within ten minutes of taking it.

I had a really freaky experience on the plane ride to London a few months ago. I took two Dramamine and THEN had two of those little bottles of wine they give you with your meal. Seriously, I woke up somewhere over the Atlantic, and couldn't figure out where the hell I was!

Dramamine is probably harmless to everyone else. My metabolism is really, really, really slow.

And anyway, Nyquil is my drug o' choice, if I have one. :)
