Linh Dinh

kindly asked me to send him some things for his provocatively-themed blog, The Lower Half.

You can check it out here...

Hits Below the Belt.

The theme is quite broad.

"The Lower Half" features some artwork, some poetry and other writing focusing on or featuring sexual or excretory functions, either literally or just as figuratively.

But the erotic mixes with the scatological which mixes with violent impulses from below the belt which mixes with who knows what else...

You could interpret that many ways. I sent a piece of scanner art in which the work was really about the limbic impulses in the human animal more than anything below the torso. We often refer to the limbic funtions in our triune brains as "the lower part" of us...and yes I think there was monkey ass in the picture too, so I should be literally "covered."

It's a very limbic brain blog in general.

The editor's pretty open and looking for work, so if you have some poetry or visual art or whatever, why not try him?

If you do stop in, be sure to check out Lynn Behrendt's poem "I Am an Asshole."

That was one of the best American poems I've read in quite some time, and I hope it finds its way to the anthology that has a name rather along those lines. If there's any justice, it should.
