My adorable friend Derby just made me crack up with this found poem he "composed" a few weeks back.

Place: Bed Bath & Beyond in Colonial Park (in plaza that contains Borders Bookstore)

I came in with two of my (grown and now young adult) nieces, although I am not sure if you noticed them, because they almost immediately went to look around in the store…You were at the customer service area, wearing a blue hat, dark jacket, and green pants with white stripes on the side. You noticed that I was near you, and told me to go ahead, thinking, I assume, that I wanted to use the aisle to pass through. So, I explained that I was returning something… but then I think you said about going ahead of you again, because (perhaps?) you had just arrived there yourself, and maybe thought that I was ahead of you, since I was standing on the side…by this point our eyes had already locked, and we both had smiled at each other.

I forget what I said next, but I do remember us smiling more after our second exchange, and our eyes locking once more…then another cashier took me at another register, and you were going out the door by the time I had finished my return and turned around… I am not sure, but perhaps you took a white mini-van taxi?

Anyway, of course I know nothing about you, or if you are even single…And I know the following will sound very cliché and corny, but I actually felt one of those soul-connection moments with you (I did not think I could still have those with total strangers!)… You are very attractive. And you have lovely eyes- but to be honest, it was the warmth that I felt radiate from them that has me writing this now.

I hope this will work. If not, next Tuesday (the 6th), I plan on showing up there at the same time, just to see if you might show up there too (it is the only other thing I can think of doing)…As I previously wrote, I know absolutely nothing about you, but felt a wonderful vibe from you, and my brief encounter with you made my night. I hope to hear from you so I can meet you again some day!
