I love art inspired by fairy tales or which creates new fairy tales.
I love old editions of The Brothers Grimm with unusual art.
Elsa Mora is on Flickr. She has much gorgeously surreal, fairy tale type art.
Her art sometimes reminds one of Frida Kahlo, sometimes Max Ernst (who also had strong fairy tale elements in his work). But she is really her own creature and is creating her own creatures!
I also love Scherenschnitte so this work pleases me for many reasons! And it's quite accomplished technically as Scherenschnitte goes.
We have a wonderful Scherenschnitte artist who lives and works in Harrisburg (and maintains a small gallery here). Her name is Jupi Das.
