Joe is the subdued sort of gay commentator who fuzzes up one's gaydar at times.
"Is this guy really gay, or just doing a good approximation of us?" you might find yourself wondering now and again during his monologue.
Probably it is a "North Carolina thang."
But then he suddenly takes out a diamonded hairpin of wit and pops a balloon of straight rhetoric, and you realize you are in good company with a fellow traveler.
He's a cutie. You get this strange urge to muss up his hair or to massage his feet because you suspect he'd be "the fun-to-tickle-kind." One of those adorably spiffy gays.
Joe is ever the Southern gentleman in his analyses; while he's flippant, he steers clear of nastiness or snideness.
Oh, and Joe's clip and website revealed to me just now that Joanna Pacitti has indeed been DISQUALIFIED, which is exactly what should have happened. I was just bitching about that in a previous blog entry. So we are spared the iniquities of another Carly Smithson this season. Hallelujah! Praise Jesus!

And you know they are only getting Nathaniel's hopes up. They will dash them later just as they did with Danny Noriega last year. American Idol can't stand sissies who have great big manly voices who can outsing the other pretty boys. It messes with Simon's head too much. And probably Randy's too.
