I Just Watched Sigur Ros in Heima

This is a great rental if you're a fan of Sigur Ros, Iceland or both.

The band is fascinating to watch and to listen to in interviews.

They are the sorts of musicians you might have encountered in the nineteenth century quite a bit, but today not at all. I mean in terms of their spiritual dedication to music (and not just their own) and their groundedness in the community that music entails.

But they are Icelanders and Icelanders are different all the way around.

This video records a series of surprise "thank you" concerts they did in small towns (and Reykjavik) all around Iceland which were all free to attend.

As I said, Icelanders are different.

Here are two of my favorite performances from the first disc (it's a two disc set).

I think "Staralfur" is my favorite song by them. Right now anyway.

haha.

you're faaaast, troy!

Yeah, I saw that concert too.

Lying on my bed eating my teee-veee dinner.

Totally unexpected...didn't realize it was on....

until it was!

This is a good dvd...great shots of iceland throughout and they are so candid and honest about their almost autistic love of music only...

they seriously are in it for the spirituality and nothing else...it's so transparently not an act...

something strange and beautiful to see...and almost eldritch in this world lol...

one must be fast to keep up with William "the killer" Keckler's demanding pace!

"...almost eldritch...",
indeed.

& please, start using that word more often, maybe it can be reclaim'd from Loveykraft!
