10 Reasons Keanu Reeves Decided to Play Klaatu in the Remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still

I thought this was a fun movie by the way, and enjoyed it quite a bit. It's well worth a rental!

1. Because Keanu starts with a "K," ends with a "U," and has way too many vowels to be considered a "normal name." And Klaatu starts with a "K," ends with a "U," and has way too many vowels to be considered an "earth name."

2. Because critics cannot call his acting "robotic" and "inhuman" without looking silly. Since he is playing an inhuman robot.

3. Because they let him put a song his garage band DOGSTAR did on the end credits.

4. Because his co-star was Jaden Smith, the child of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett, and this connection could allow him to visit the Smith/Pinkett household.

And they have really good video games.

5. Because his husband David Geffen told him to.

6. Because he basically got to do The Matrix again, but this time wear the same black suit the bad guy wore in that.

7. Because he gets to sentence the entire earth to death, and if you've been reading his movie reviews the past ten years you'll probably understand why this appeals to him.

8. SPOILER ALERT. DO NOT READ PAST THIS POINT IF YOU ARE GOING TO RENT IT: Because he gets to walk on water, bring a man back to life, redeem the earth, and do other Christ-like miracles. And as a Buddhist, it's probably fun to piss the Christians off.

9. Because he doesn't have to have sex with any women in this movie.

10. Because they gave him a lot of money for speaking very few words. And that's, like, his favorite gig these days.
