George Nakashima

Burl is hot. Did anyone see the episode of Intervention where the (crack addict, was it?) had the burl obsession? That one was good.

Uber-cutie Todd Oldham eulogizes Nakashima.

They also had one of these Charles Rohlfs chairs on last night. A very old woman brought it in and said it was one of her mothers quirks to have bought the chair nearly a century agao. I think it was appraised somewhere close to 100,000.

Hers was in mahogany. The other three known in existence were in lesser woods.

Looks rather like a strange marriage in a dream between one of the Vienna Secessionists and a Stickley.

There was a Charles Rohlfs exhibit that went around the country in 2008, I believe.

He still seems to be rather obscure among design connoiseurs?

A rather purgatorial or penitential chair.

More than a little scary.
