I have decided to have a micro-micro press of chapbooks called BITTER CRAYON PRESS.
I am going to "publish" these as tiny books written in crayon and other non-typographic media.
The books will mostly consist of small poems, and I will publish myself, my friends and people who would die largely unappreciated as poets if they died right now, today.
If you think you are one of those: 1) myself 2) my friend or 3) someone who would die largely unappreciated if you died right now, today...and you can write a small (VERY SMALL)...like 10-28 pages book of tiny poems feel free to contact me with the work.
Small poems preferred! Tiny!
Or like one or two or three or four normal length poems spread out to become one book.
I will buy most of my materials at the Dollar Store. They have great stuff in the school/paper aisle! Some of those little books are hardbound and beautiful. Also, I will recycle materials I already have. The books will have extraneous matter glued into them and stuff like that. Some of them may even become ornate in a very garish way.
For those hardbound books I would like to start a "tiny novel" series also...novels that fit in the space of those Dollar Store books. They would probably be written in pen and pencil more than crayon.
Books will be available to order here on this blog and I will start an ancillary blog for Bitter Crayon Press.
The books will be very cheap to order...like between a buck and five bucks.
Later, people will refer to these as livres d'artiste and you will have the prestige of being collected by some pompous museum long after you are unpompously dead.
You will not be able to order 500 copies of your book as I'm not crayoning/markering, etc. that much.
Pay will be in a few copies of your book only and any "profits" (haha!) will be turned back into helping other poets publish through BITTER CRAYON PRESS.
I think the little books will look very delicate and pretty and ill, like that sparrow on the street you'd like to help although you know it's doomed.
The books will be able to be purchased through PAYPAL most likely.
Here are people I would definitely like to do books by: John Myers, Rachel Andrews, Angela Genusa, Matt Cozart ne Walker, Scott, Shad, Peter, Kim Kielhofner (although there's no way I could do a book as beautiful as her own) and some others. You know if I love your poetry.
I am of course open to looking at work by other poets/writers!
Realize that probably only a few dozen copies of your book will exist at most, but isn't that sort of cool? And no two copies of your book will be the same. Duh.
All the books people want most later are those impossibly tiny runs.
I hope to publish the first title in the next few months and then maybe aim for a title a month...I think that's a good, realistic goal.

I'm BUYING. Consider my standing order for one of each thing you publish. How's that sound, Mr. K?
Hope you thrive this pretty autumn.

Maybe I can get a wee bookie out of you down the road, She-Mur?
And maybe BUMPO's will contribute some art or let me do an art bookie of his?
Cheers.

Thanks, Peter.
I will look for the hand and try to make a casting of the ectoplasm.
You know how well these things do on EBAY!
You'd be perfect for a February Bitter Crayon bookie.
