Christian Hawkey
I signed into my YouTube and it showed me new videos by people I subscribe to. HartCrane there is a young poet I subscribed to many moons ago, but I hadn't realized he had posted so many videos since then. I added him, I think, because I liked an original poem he had read (maybe two or three years ago?). I saw he posted Keats today so I clicked over then found out he had posted nearly two hundred videos. Looks like fun stuff to go through later. I watched the video for Maggy magazine which he flipped through the way I just did yesterday with the Barbie book. I guess that's a natural way to share books without having to do all the typing, right?...and a picture is worth..well.... Anyway, it's Adam Fitzgerald so I Googled him and read some poems by him I liked. One was very Hart Cranish (fer shur!) but I think I preferred the ones that were more Adam Fitzgeraldian. Maggy was designed by Jeff Clark. He does good work. I have a couple books with covers he's done. Pam Rehm. What else? Katy Lederer's Winter Sex. A few others, I'm sure. I'd like to read it but the only thing that bothered me is everybody in it was already a name poet (or I think all of them were). It's one of those magazines created almost exclusively for the purpose of making the current editor of The Best American Poetry's job easier. Don't. Don't do it. Make them WORK! It can get a little close, the air a little thin, when mags do that. And there was Ashbery and about eight poets who write so dangerously close to Ashbery they could be brought up on charges in several states. But there were a lot of poets I like to read. So now I know (a little) who Christian Hawkey is (thanks to this video). I had seen he had done some translations for Kaiserin mag. He also translates from the German and seems very active in this capacity. He's a poet and has published several books. I haven't read anything by him in that capacity yet. Wait, a poem online I believe. Yes.
